Packing for Dubai requires balancing two competing realities: the extreme outdoor heat (40°C+ in summer) and the aggressive indoor air conditioning (often set to 18–20°C). You will be cold at restaurants, malls, and hotel lobbies, then stepping into a wall of heat outside.
Dubai's dress code expectations are also a factor. While beachwear is perfectly acceptable at the beach, entering souks, mosques, shopping centres, or government buildings in shorts and vest tops is considered disrespectful. Having a light cardigan or scarf in your bag solves this in seconds.
This packing list is built for a typical 5–10 day Dubai visit covering desert safaris, beach days, dining out, and possibly a club night.
