Visiting Dubai during Ramadan is a genuinely special experience — the city takes on a different atmosphere after sunset, Iftar gatherings are magnificent, and the normally frenzied pace softens during daylight hours. But it does require some preparation.

Many first-time Ramadan visitors are caught off-guard by reduced working hours, restaurants that are closed or curtained during the day, and the expectation not to eat or drink in public during daylight hours. Since 2021, the rules have been clarified: eating in public during Ramadan is not illegal for non-Muslims, but it remains deeply disrespectful and can attract social disapproval.

This checklist helps you plan a respectful and enjoyable Ramadan visit. Most of the items are straightforward — Ramadan is a time of warmth and generosity, and visitors who are thoughtful about the experience are invariably welcomed.
