Relocating to Dubai as a family is fundamentally different from moving as a single person or couple. The needs of children — schools, healthcare, activities, safe spaces — have to be built into your planning from the very beginning.

Families with young children should begin their school enquiries at least six months before their planned move date. Outstanding-rated schools, especially at popular curricula, routinely have waiting lists that exceed a year. Arriving in Dubai without a school place confirmed is stressful and expensive (tutors, temporary international schools).

This checklist addresses the specific family dimension of relocation. It should be used alongside the main Dubai Moving Checklist — the two checklists together cover the full picture.
