Dubai Traffic Fines & Black Points Guide
Everything you need to know about traffic fines in Dubai: amounts, black points, how to check if you have outstanding fines, how to pay, and how to contest them.
DUI Carries the Harshest Penalties in the World
Drink driving in Dubai carries a AED 20,000 fine, criminal prosecution, possible imprisonment, and deportation for expats. The legal limit is effectively zero — even trace amounts from medication or mouthwash can result in prosecution. Never drink and drive.

Black points reset after 1 year with no new offences. The clock restarts after each new violation.
Tourists & Visitors
Fines on international licenses are transferred to the rental company and charged to your card. Unpaid fines can affect future UAE visa applications.

Speed Camera Coverage is Extensive
Dubai has one of the world's densest speed camera networks. Fixed cameras are on most major roads; mobile speed traps operate in school zones, residential areas, and during peak hours. The official tolerance above posted limits is 20 km/h, but cameras are calibrated — do not rely on any tolerance.
